Is it Possible to Use a Weight Distribution Replacement Head as a Simple Adjustable Ball Mount?
Question:
If Im pulling a very light trailer that does not need weight distribution. Can this item be used like a simple adjustable hitch without the spring bars/brackets? Thank you.

I contacted the manufacturer and it technically can be used as an adjustable ball mount, relying on the non-weight distribution ratings of your hitch receiver. This may not be the most visually pleasing option, but it will work. It has a rise of 6-1/2 inches or a drop of 1-1/4 inches and the distance from center of hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball is 14 inches. The hitch ball does not come with this replacement head, so you'd need to purchase a 2 inch ball like # 40038 or a 2-5/16 inch ball like # 19286.
Since you are not using this for a weight distribution system, I'd suggest using an adjustable ball mount that will give you similar options. Fastway has a Solid-Tow Adjustable Ball Mount, # DTSTBM6600, that comes with the 2 common hitch balls (2 inch and 2-5/16 inch) and has a 6 inch drop or a 7 inch rise. It would be much more user friendly to accomplish the same purpose and is much more visually appealing. It is made of aircraft grade billet aluminum to provide a strong yet lightweight avoiding any welds that can cause weak points. It measures from center of hitch pin to center of ball 8-1/2 inches. I've included a video of this hitch for you.
