Availability of a Trailer Hitch Mount Towing Spare Tire Carrier or Dual Purpose Ball Mount

Question:

Are there any of these Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier that go completely over the hitch receiver, i.e., let the receiver pass completely through the carrier mounting hole, so that the hitch can continue to function as a trailer hitch at the same time that its functioning as a spare tire carrier? Thanks!

None of the trailer hitch mounted spare tire carriers, like # C31006, are what is considered to be a towing carrier. However, what you could do is use a dual purpose ball mount like # D210. With this ball mount you would place the hitch mounted carrier in the receiver portion and tow with the ball mount portion. You will have to make sure that you do not exceed the tongue weight capacity of the hitch when using the ball mount and receiver portion at the same time. You will have to subtract the weight of the carrier, the tire, and the trailer tongue weight from the capacity of the hitch when calculating tongue weight.
