Yakima MegaWarrior With Extension Fit On 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

This was answered, but incorrectly. The Megawarrior with extension does not fit the factory crossbars of a 2014 Outback. The reason being that the clamps to attach the basket to the crossbars dont line up with both crossbars. Even if they did, the basket would get in the way of the rear hatch. So my question is, is there some way to make this work? Ive considered replacing the factory rails with a whole new system, but I dont know if thats even possible. Maybe some Yakima Tracks would fit. Would that require taking apart the interior roof? The Loadwarrior with extension fits, but i need something bigger.

The mounting bracket included with the Yakima MegaWarrior, part # Y07080-82 can be moved so they line up with the crossbars on your Outback.

The only requirement is that the minimum crossbar spread should be 36 inches and the maximum should be 60 inches. The problem with the added extension is just what you are saying. It may inhibit being able to fully open the hatchback. You may be able to shift the basket forward to allow the hatch to open.

Using the Yakima Tracks like part # Y01127 does not require taking the headliner out of your vehicle.
