Recommended Sidewinder Pin Box For Trailer Occasionally Exceeding More than 16,000 Lbs
Question:
I am looking at a new truck a ford f350 with 6foot bed. I presently have an 8foot bed, but the truck barely fits in my garage and I question whether a 2017 f350 will even fit since it seems to be a few inches longer than my truck. I have a 2013 Keystone Raptor mp300. I was looking at the reese sidewinder on your website excellent website by the way. It says it it rated for 16K pounds. My camper is well below that, but when full of water, gas and toys Im concerned I may creep above that 16K rating?

The Sidewinder Fifth Wheel pin box I recommend is part # RP34FR. This pin box has a weight capacity of 20,000-lbs and moves your pivot point an additional 22 inches so you can make those 90-degree turns easily. You want to make sure you do not exceed the weight capacity of the trailer but if the trailer is rated high enough I recommend the higher rated Sidewinder.
I did some research and the cargo capacity added to the dry weight of your Raptor adds up to about 16,400-lbs.
I also recommend adding a 7-Way trailer connector like part # 41157 in the bed of the truck. This will make hooking up the trailer easier without the need for any kind of extension. I have attached a link to an installation video you can check out.
