Scissor Step Recommendation for Camper Door 36 inches Off the Ground

Question:

We have a NorthStar TC800 camper on our 2013 Tundra. Wed like scissor steps, but are not sure whether we need the 3- or 4-step model. I saw someone with a NorthStar camper wishing they had gotten the 3-step model rather than the 4-step. The bottom edge of our camper is ~30inch from the ground, and the door sill is ~36inch from the ground. Looking at pictures, the TorkLift appears to be a sturdier product, with more stable attachment system, compared to the Brophy, but does TorkLift make steps 24inch wide? Our door is 24inch wide. So far all the TorkLifts I have seen are 20inch wide. Any comments on the 6inch deep steps vs. the 8inch deep ones? Thanks!

Since your door sill sits 36 inches from the ground the step set you would want is the part # TLA7804 which has a bracket height of 34 inches. This will best match your setup. Although the steps are a few inches narrower than the door they would still be wide enough for you to use. A 20 inch wide step is wide enough to be easy to use.

Step height can make a difference for people who have a harder time lifting there feet up for steps. The kit I recommended is a 6 inch step which would still work well for people who aren't concerned with that.
