What Other Parts Are Needed To Tow A 2008 Toyota Tacoma With A Roadmaster Tow Bar

Hello I have a Road Master 5000 tow bar that I am going to use to tow my 2008 Tacoma. It has the quick connect pin and socket system. Can you set me up with all the hardware I need to get me on the road. In the past, I used the square tubing pin pocket type. I would prefer to have the pockets run through the bumper area instead of underneath. 2008 Tacoma double cab Thanks for your help

The Roadmaster 5000 (Tracker) Tow Bar is compatible with the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1175-1, and will fit your 2008 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab as long as it is not an X-Runner model. The base plates will install underneath the bumper (see picture to the right). I do not have any tow bar base plates that will install through the bumper.

You will also need safety cables should the tow bar become disconnected. These are required by law across the country. The safety cables you will need are the Roadmaster Safety Cables # RM-645.

For lighting, you can wire your vehicle using Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154. The other option would be to use Magnetic Towing Light Kit # RM-2120, which are lights that attach to your vehicle using magnets. If you are going to be towing your Toyota Tacoma often I would recommend using # RM-154, as you would just plug in your vehicle after the initial install. I am sending a video link of this wiring kit being installed on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The vehicle is different, but the wiring principle is the same.

You will want to check with the manufacturer for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your 2008 Toyota Tacoma because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.
