Recommended A-Frame Jack
Question:
I am looking at a top wind 5000 lb jack for my equipment trailer. I presently have a side wind that is 13inch high and I can open the tailgate and have about 1 inch of clearance to the top of the jack. The side wind jack is ~15inch high which means the tailgate would hit the jack. I would like to shift the jack down 2 inches. Can I install the top wind jack up through the bottom of the trailer and add a 2inch thick plate / spacer? I realize that I would have to disassemble the jack to get it through the hole in the plate - is this possible? I have access to a waterjet and can design a spacer and fab from a couple of 1inch A36 plates.

I do not recommend installing an a-frame jack in a manner that requires you to disassemble it. What I do suggest, since you have fabrication capabilities, is that you make a new a-frame jack mounting point on the trailer at the height you want it and then simply install a jack like the Bulldiog # TJA-5000S-B from above as usual.
All 5K a-frame jacks are linked for you. You can click on the filters to select topwind or sidewind.
