I spoke to my contact at Kat's and he told me that the # KH11484 will fit your 2006 Pontiac Gran Prix with the 3.8 V-6 engine. This heater is a frost plug type heater that is designed to replace the original frost plug located on the right side center area of the engine block, (not front center). He also mentioned that may be necessary to temporarily remove the air conditioner bracket to gain access to it.
I have linked the above mentioned product to this page for your convenience.
