Fit and Compatibility of Tire Size and Bore Size on Trailer with 4 on 4 Wheel Pattern

Question:

I need wheels for a trailer. The pattern is a 4 hole 4 inch. The bore I best I can measure is 2.5 The bore on this wheel is 2.65, will your wheel work? I have P85/70 R13 tires. Do they work on this wheel?

It sounds like you meant to say you have 185/70R13 sized tires on your trailer.

If this is correct then the 4 on 4 bolt pattern wheel # AM20242 will work with your 185/70R13 sized tire as long as your previous wheel was lug centric.

Since you mentioned your bore size, I just want to be sure that you know there are two main types of wheels, hub-centric wheels and lug-centric wheels. Hub-centric wheels center on the hub using the hub bore and lug-centric wheels center on the hub using lug nuts. Hub-centric wheels typically use wheel bolts rather than lug nuts to attach to the hub.

Hub-centric wheels are more commonly found on import vehicles and are not very common on trailers. If your wheels are hub-centric, you would want new wheels with the same pilot hole diameter as your current wheels because the wheels must center on the hub bore. If the pilot hole is larger, then the wheel will not stay centered on the hub and could move.

I have linked the above mentioned parts to this page for your convenience.
