Replacement Trailer Wheel for 2006 Cardinal 5th Wheel

Question:

Hello, I bought my 2006 Cardinal 5th wheel used. It doesnt have a spare. I have Goodyear G614 RST installed. 16in 6 lug, 5.5. The AM22657 looks like the rims but I cant find any manufacture symbols on it to confirm. I wanted to by an exact spare tire Goodyear G614. Will this rim work. I dont know the width of existing tire or if it matters as its a spare. Is there a better spare rim to use that works for this load range? I need the wheel and tire. Also, how can I tell how old my current tire are? Thank you.

For just a wheel the part # AM22657 that you referenced would work well though as it is the same size as what your trailer has.

It looks like you actually have the part # AM20746 though as that closer matches what you have in the picture you submitted.

Here's how to tell a tire's age. The DOT number code will be stamped on one side of the tire, near the bead area. This tire identification number will start with the letters DOT, then the next two numbers or letters are the plant code where the tire was manufactured. The last four numbers represent the week and year the tire was built. For example, the numbers 0410 means the fourth week of 2010.

The common recommendation is that trailer tires should be replaced at 6-7 years of age regardless of if the tread of the tire is still good. This means 6-7 years after the manufactured date and not just when the tire was purchased.
