Can 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT With Manual Transmission Be Flat-Towed

Question:

Ive read your answer to one persons question on flat towing a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Your response was that the manual transmission on that vehicle is suitable for flat towing. My specific concern is if the same is true for the manual 6 speed transmission on a 2016 Elantra GT model. Your reply to my question will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I did some research of your owner's manual and found that on page 6-22 of the manual, it says your 2016 Elantra GT cannot be flat towed. It makes no mention of a manual transmission and it says to tow it must be on either a flatbed trailer or in a tow dolly with the front wheels off the ground.

We do offer a tow dolly you may want to consider. The dolly I recommend is the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes, part # RM-2050-1. Using a dolly will require a brake controller in the towing vehicle. I recommend the P2, part # 90885. This is our most popular because it is easy to install and operate.

Since you will need trailer wiring for the dolly let me know what you want to tow your Elantra with and I will be glad to make some recommendations that will work for you.
