To determine the correct brake assemblies that will work for your 12x2 8 on 6-1/2 hubs we still need a little more information, but this gets us half way there.
You will want to get the bolt pattern of the brake mounting flange on your axle and if it is a 4-bolt flange or a 5-bolt flange. Also, if you get the weight capacity of the axles on your trailer it will help you determine brake capacity needed. All of this information will help you get the correct brake assemblies for your trailer.
It is recommended to change both of the brake assemblies on the axle at the same time so that the brakes are both operating the same. If you mix old and new parts the braking may be different from side to side and cause problems.
If you want to get back to me with that information I will be glad to help you get the correct brake assemblies for your 2005 Montana. I have linked all the 12x2 inch brakes that are compatible with 5,200lb, 6,000lb, and 7,000lbs axles for you to check out. There is also a filter for the type of brake component you are looking for like manual or self adjust.
