Can T-Handle Locking Door Latch L4080 Be Used in the Upright Position

Can this latch or the junior latch be used upright 3 3/4 tall by 2 3/4 wide?

I pulled one of the # L4080 locking door latches from our warehouse, and you would be able to mount it in an upright position, or really in any position you choose. You would just want to make sure that the latching bar will catch, in whatever position the door latch is mounted.
