How Should the 15K Truck and Trailer Winch # E52801 be Mounted to A Trailer

Question:

How do I mount E52601 to car trailer? Is it made to mount to the trailer bed? It looks like it should be mounted bolted to metal frame some how. It looks like the actual winch part should be as close to the bed as possible.

You are correct, the 15K Truck and Trailer Winch, item # E52801, is designed to be mounted to a trailer or trucks bed. The most common use is on the side of the trailer welded to the trailer frame. You see this type of application often on the sides of flat bed semi-trailers. Welding by a qualified weldor is the approved method for attaching the Truck and Trailer Winch.

If you wanted to bolt the winch to the frame you would have to drill holes in the base and use bolts washers and lock washers. Loctite, item #, LT37643, would also be a good idea if bolting these on.

If you modify the winch for a bolt on application you will need to be sure that you do not compromise the capacity of the winch with a hole too large or weak attachment hardware. Drilling into the base, or other modification, will void the manufacturer warranty on this item.
