Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2013 Ram 2500 with 6-Foot Bed Towing

Question:

I purchase a 2006 Fleetwood 255 fifth wheel and am looking for a hitch setup for my 2013 ram 2500 with 64bed. I like the idea of the Anderson hitch with the hide a ball application but am concerned about crunching my cab inn a sharp turn. The pin box is about 8 inches in front of the nose of the trailer... Recommendations?

In your Ram 2500 with 6-foot bed you'll be well served by a sliding 5th wheel hitch like the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W which has 12-inches of travel and that installs using their under-bed kit # BWGNRK1313-5W The beauty of this system is that it is BOTH a 5th wheel hitch and a gooseneck hitch in one. Need to pull a gooseneck trailer? Just pull out the hitch and install the included gooseneck ball. Need to pull the 5th wheel? Drop the hitch back in. And when you need to have the bed clear it is simple to remove the hitch, which gives you an empty bed that is ready to haul cargo.

For the hitch with the most front-to-back travel the 18K Demco # DM8550022 and install kit # DM8551005 give you 14-inches of slider travel for easier and safer low-speed turns.

For a wiring harness you can use # PK11893-11932.

Hitch adapters like the Convert-A-Ball # CAB-C5G introduce additional stress into the trailer frame and some trailer makers will void your warranty is an adapter is used so you may care to check with Fleetwood (using your trailer's VIN) to find out if they approve using adapters.
