The Trailer Connector Adapter, # PK12716, will plug into an existing 7-way trailer connector on the vehicle. If your 2006 Chevy Suburban has a 7-way connector on the rear of the vehicle you will be able to install this adapter.
If your 2006 Chevy Suburban does not have a 7-way connector installed on the rear of the vehicle, but has the factory socket located above the spare tire you will need to install the Hopkins Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connector, # 30955. You will remove the plug in the factory socket and plug in the # 30955 connector and run the other end with the 7-way and 4-way connector to the bumper. This will give you a 7-way at the rear of your vehicle.
You will also need to check the accessory fuse block, under the hood, to see that the 12-volt power wire from the factory towing harness is attached to the auxiliary positive post. There will also need to be a 40-amp fuse installed in the fuse box right next to the same auxiliary post. This will provide power back to the 7-way trailer connector. I am sending a link that will show this connection.
