Brake Controller and Install Parts Needed for a 1998 GMC Sierra 1500  

Question:

Want to install trailer brake controller on a 1998 GMC Sierra Pickup 1500, not sure if the ETBC7 is the right kit or not??.....thanks

Yes, to install a brake controller in your 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 the correct kit would be the part # ETBC7 if the truck has a 4-way harness currently. If instead you already have a 7-way you would only need the part # 5506.

If you have no trailer wiring at all you would need the # 18252 for a 4-way and then the # ETBC7 for converting it to a 7-way and installing the controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
