Brake Controller Recommendation for 2013 BMW X5 with 4-Way
Question:
I have a 2013 BMW X5 diesel and am considering getting a 3500lb travel trailer with electric brakes. I have a Curt class 3 hitch and Curt flat 4 towing cable. Are there any brake controllers that can interface with a flat 4 system? I dont have 7 pin Do I need a brake control fo a 3500lb trailer?

Brake controllers will need a 7-way connector installed on the vehicle. 4-ways only carry the taillight circuits and do not have a pin available for carrying the brake signal.
Since finding the stoplight circuit on your 2013 BMW X5 is incredibly difficult the recommended controller for your vehicle is the RF part # TK94FR that actually installs on the trailer.
All you would need for the 7-way is the part # 37185. You would need to run the power wire (black) of the 7-way up to the vehicle battery through a circuit breaker like part # 9510 and the 7-way would be ready for the RF controller.
