Should Tires On Trailer Used For Hauling Hay Be The Same Size
Question:
I have a utility trailer I use mainly to haul hay off road on my acreage. However, I may need to use this trailer on occasionally. The tires on the trailer were 13 inch 185 when I purchased it used. On a short road trip, one of the tires shredded and had to be replaced. I had a newer 13 inch 155 tire available to replace it with. The other tire on the trailer a 185 is in fairly good condition. Considering that the trailer will primarily be used off-road, should I replace the second 185 tire with a 155, the size of the first replacement tire? Thank you

It is always recommended to use the same size tires on a trailer to make sure there is no added stress on the suspension and to keep the trailer level. Since you said one of the tires shredded, you may want to consider a replacement tire so you don't have to face the same issue with the older trailer tire.
I also recommend making sure the tires you use are rated for the weight of the hay you said you use the trailer for.
For a 13-inch 185 tire I recommend part # AM1ST79. This is a load range D Bias-ply tire that has a load rating of 1,725 lbs at 65 psi. We do not offer a 155/80-13 tire.
