Trailer Tire Recommendation for Sundowner 20’ Gooseneck with LT235/85R16

Question:

My wife has a Sundowner 20’ gooseneck aluminum stock trailer with living quarters. It is built like a tank. It was originally equipped with four Uniroyal LT235 85R16 Load Range E tires——Laredo All-Season AWP to be specific. They have served us extremely well under all conditions, but need replacement due to sun rot. Uniroyal doesn’t make the AWP anymore. When I asked about their HD/T series for the trailer, I got no useful information back from them. A friend suggested the Taskmaster Provider. It is an ST tire, not an LT, and though it looks great with a Load rating of G, I do not understand if there is a difference between trailer tires, and light truck tires—very confused! Any enlightenment on the subject would be greatly appreciated!

ST and LT tires can both be used on trailers but the ST tires are preferred as they are made specifically and only for trailers where the LT tires are tires that can be used on trucks and tires.

I really like the Taskmaster Radial ST tires as they have proven to be very reliable and unlike most ST trailer tires they have a speed rating of 81 mph instead of 65 mph like most. For that I would recommend the part # TTWPRG235R16. It has a capacity of 4,400 lbs at 110 psi as well.

With ST tires you have to keep them inflated to their max psi to ensure you get the full capacity and prevent heat build up.
