Will the Reese 20K 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30084 Work in and Older 14K Square Tube Kwik Slide
Question:
Have an older 14k 5th wheel mounted on a square tube kwik slide. It was purchased in 1998. I have a new camper with a 16,000 lb gvw. Im thinking of getting a new heavier hitch. Can a 20k hitch be mounted to the older quick slide or should I purchase a new slide kit. The mounting rail kit was installed in a new 2004 F-350 Ford. I assume they will work with a new hitch.

You will need to purchase a new fifth-wheel unit with slider to upgrade your truck for towing the heavier trailer, because the 14K head has different mounting dimensions than the newer Reese fifth-wheel heads and they will not fit on the quick slide that your 14Kk head fits on. The Reese 14K Kwik slide you have is not compatible with newer fifth-wheel heads like the 18K Select Plus Fifth Wheel Head Kit - Reese, item # 58292.
The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Square Tube Slider - 20,000 lbs, item # RP30084, would be an excellent choice for your setup and will fit in the existing rails, that you have installed in your 2004 F-350.
