Is the 12 Volt Hot Lead Required when Installing a 7-Way Trailer Connector

Question:

What is the main purpose of the black wire Hot Lead? And, if that particular wire is not used, do I still need to install the fuse, and relay as well with the rest of the installation process, or is the fuse and relay are only to power that black wire? Thank you very much.

Trailers that use 12 volt power for accessories or that have a battery will use the 12 volt circuit in a 7-Way trailer connector. If the trailer does not have those items then you would not have to make that circuit active. That means that you would not have to run any wire or install a fuse or relay associated with the 12 volt circuit.
