Do I have to have the BandW slider for my shortbed or can I get by with just the compaion 2013 Ram Shortbed 2500 Diesel

Your 2013 Ram 2500 diesel shortbed will require a sliding 5th wheel hitch in order for you to have adequate turning clearance. The B&W sliding Companion hitch # BWRVK3400-5W is the hitch to use if you have a B&W installation kit # BWGNRK1313-5W in your truck bed.
If you need a wiring harness for the bed you can use part # PK11893-11932 from Pollak.
