Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for an Recumbent Bike and Toyota Prius V

Michael H: i just read your reply to Darcy regarding the 2013 Prius. I have the Prius V for which Im ordering the DrawTite Class 1 hitch #24847. Will the THule9042 rack hold my Elliptigo Arc bike in a vertical position? sideways to the car? in other words, with the wheels of the bike parallel to the width of the car.

A traditional hanging bike rack such as the Thule Helium Aero # TH9042PRO will not hold your Recumbent bike but I do have a solution for you. I recommend a platform style bike rack such as the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Recumbents Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B-R. It can accommodate bikes with wheel bases up to 57" and tires up to 3". It can hold bikes up to 35 pounds if you are using a class I hitch like are available for your Prius V.
