Installing InSIGHT Brake Controller on a 2007 Ford F-150 with Factory 4-Way Trailer Connector
Question:
My 2007 F150 came stock with 4 pin flat trailer light connector. I have the ford plug under dash and bought the adapter for the in site controll. Will there be a wire taped up in wire harness for the trailer brakes harness running to bumper? I installed a 7 pin rv with 4 flat for rv and boat. Also will I have to run a wire for 12v power for battery with a 30 amp circuit breaker? I tested ford plug under dash has power, break light hot when applied, ground good on that pin and even has fourth wire I suppose is the brake wire just need to know if I have to locate or run a wire all the way back. To my knowledge truck was bought with out tow package. But the fuse box has all fuses and breaker for towing.

You will need to do just a little bit of hardwiring to install a 7-Way trailer connector and brake controller on your 2007 Ford F-150 with factory 4-Way. The 4- to 7-Way adapter you have should have additional wires for the ground, 12 volt circuit, brakes, and possibly reverse lights.
Under your truck if you follow the 4-Way wiring forward it will plug into another connector. The protective covering over the wires for this connector will be trimmed away revealing two additional wires. The orange wire will connect to the 12 volt wire on your adapter. The blue wire will go to the brake output wire on your adapter for output to the trailer brakes.
The last wire if present on your adapter is for reverse lights on the trailer which most will not require. But if you want to hook it up you will need to tap into one of the wires going to a reverse light on the truck.
I have included a link to a help article that, in part, covers all of this for you. And as you probably already know the brake controller wiring harness for the InSIGHT and your truck is # HM47715.
