5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Install Kit for 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 and Trailer w/Revolution Pin Box

Question:

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.5 bed,3.43axel ratio, rated at 9,400 lbs.towing capacity. I am looking at purchasing a 2017 8289ws Rockwood listed 8,368 dry. The trailer of course comes with the Reese Revolution. I am curious what hitch would be the best set up for me. I am also curious if i will be required to have the slider or roll back hitch. Thanks!

Since the trailer comes with the Reese Revolution pin box you will not use a slider hitch. You will need to use a fixed hitch. The Revolution moves the pivot point of the trailer back 22 inches which is why a slider is not used.

To start you will need an installation kit for your 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 with 5-1/2 foot bed. I recommend custom kit # RP50064-58. Custom kits are great because there is no frame drilling required for installation so they install in less time compared to universal kits.

For a hitch I recommend the Pro Series 16K # RP30047. It has a dual-jaw design and can be used with the Revolution pin box. You will also need custom wedge # 30850 for the best fit between the Revolution and the hitch. The wedge is what prevents the trailer from rotating at the hitch and allows it to rotate further back at the turret.
