Will Thule Passage 2 TH910XT Trunk-Mount Bike Rack Fit 2012 Honda Fit Base Model

Question:

Would this Bike Rack work on a Honda Fit Base Model 2012 w/out a hitch? Weve heard that truck bike racks on Honda Fits end up hitting the back window. We would like to avoid having to get a hitch and just buy a trunk bike rack to use a few times a year. Thank you so much!

For a trunk-mount 2-bike rack for occasional use on your 2012 Honda Fit the Thule Passage 2 # TH910XT is a fine choice so long as you do not have the Sport edition.

All trunk-mount bike racks will contact your rear window and all prevent use of your rear wiper while the rack is installed. This is simply the nature of trunk-mount racks, and reasons why some folks prefer a hitch rack to avoid that rack/vehicle contact. Most of the weight of the loaded rack will rest on the bumper cover and the top straps on the rack. Please refer to the linked video for more.

If you will be transporting any bikes without a horizontal top frame tube, say a woman's step-through frame or kid's bike, you'll want to add an adapter bar to such bikes, part # UB01. This simply connects between the seat and handlebar posts to provide a mounting surface to mate with the rack arms.

If you care to add some security for the rack you can use the Thule Passive Security Strap # TH533 and to lock your bikes to the rack you can use a simple cable lock like # e98891.
