Is Brake Lite Relay Needed when Flat Towing Jeep Wrangler with Even Brake Supplemental Brake

Question:

I have been towing a Jeep Wrangler without a brake system. I recently purchased a 9400. My question is : can I leave in the signal/brake lite system I have been using. It runs off the motor home plug. The lights are diode protected. If yes then I shouldnt have to install the brake lite relay? Am I making a correct assumption? Do I have to connect anything to terminal 1 on ICX ? Thank you

Does your vehicle brake lights illuminate when you press the pedal of your Jeep? You can use your current tow bar lighting but if when the brake pedal of your vehicle is applied it would override the blinker circuit of your tow bar lighting a brake light relay like part # RM-88400 would be needed.

According to the installation instructions for the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System # RM-9400 (please see step D on page 7) the #1 terminal on the ICX transmitter should be connected to the green wire with spade connector if the Brake-Lite relay was installed. If not, then the #1 terminal should be connected to the wire from the COLD side of the Jeep's brake light switch. This is the side of the switch that carries power ONLY when the pedal is pressed.
