For a California-Approved performance tuner to let you adjust your transmission shift points and firmness I suggest the Superchips Flashpaq F5 Performance Tuner # SU4845. This will let you adjust your transmission for better hill climbing performance and also let you re-tune your engine for up to 20 more horsepower and up to 28-ft-lbs of additional torque. Connection is simply a matter of plugging the tuner in at your OBD-II port.
The Edge tuner # EP85350 you referenced is not CARB-compliant so it cannot be used in California.
