What Does GCWR Mean on a Trailer Tongue
Question:
I looked at the tongue of a utility trailer, and it said 3500 GCWR, or something like that. Does that mean thats how much weight its rated to haul? Thanks for your time.

Expert Reply:
The GCWR stands for Gross Combined Weight Rating. For a trailer that would mean the amount of weight it can be total including the weight of cargo plus the weight of the trailer.
If there is not other capacity listed for your vehicle you would need to have your trailer weighed and subtract that from 3,500 to see how much you can tow with it.
