Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2011 Toyota RAV4
Question:
I have a 2011 V6 RAV4 with tow prep package, Reese hitch and 4 pin wiring plug already installed. I am purchasing a 5x10 aluminum trailer with Dexter torsion axle and auto adjust electric brakes. Was thinking Tekonsha P2 or P3 or your recommendation for the controller. I watched the video... Is there a port that comes with the tow prep that saves me any wiring if I buy a harness? The blue wire they tapped in the Rav4 video doesnt look like the tundra harness in the FAQ/accessory links. Or, do I need to basically get the accessory package they used, and run all the wiring to the battery like the video? Thanks

If you have never used a brake controller before, the P2 # 90885 will be easier to learn on and use than the P3, # 90195. The P3 has several features the P2 doesn't including the ability to change the LED screen color, change the language, and the biggest difference is the diagnostics. Instead of flashing a code you would have to look at the P3 has clear messages telling you what the problem is.
Other than that the controllers function in the same way and mount in the same way. I have included links to video reviews on both controllers for you to compare.
With either controller the kit you would need to install the controller in your 2011 Rav4 with a 4-way is the part # ETBC7. This comes with everything needed to make the conversion plus install the 7-way.
