1991 Chinook Concourse Class C E-350 Motorhome Sway Bar Recommendation

Question:

Hi, there are two sway bars listed, 1 3/8inch and 1 1/2inch diameter, with a price difference of apx. $200. For my Chinook with a gross weight of 10,500 lbs and supplemental suspension airbags on the rear, and occasionally towing a 3,000 lb Jeep wrangler, which stabilizer sway bar would you recommend as being adequate, and still vastly improving the sway of this class C? Is the 1 1/2 inch diameter over kill? I do not travel a lot. However, going through the mountains in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, and West Virginia are not unusual when I do RV. My second question is about the reference in the installation manual to auto chains on my E-350 chassis. Is this the terminology for snow chains or is it something else on the rear of this dually that I am not aware of? Thank you for all of your great service and fast shipping. Sincerely,

Helpful Expert Reply:

Since your E-350 Class C is rated lower than most the smaller 1-3/8 inch sway bar part # RM-1139-108 would work well for you and would save you some money.

If you had the automatic chains you would know it. They are a system that deploys a spinning chain to push snow out of the way of the tires.
