Weight Capacity of Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Part # FHDPB330301

Question:

I have a 1997 Loadmaster aluminum boat trailer rated for 6K. It has a 3x3 tongue. I am instested in installing one of your Fulton swing away kits, however the 3x3 model is rated for 5K.. The boat is a 22 foot sport cuddy with a 7.4 Liter sterndrive. I was told the weight of the boat is 4K. The weight of the boat and trailer will be very close to the 5K rating on the swing away kit. Any thoughts?

I have spoken with one of our contacts at Fulton, who tell me that exceeding that 5000 lb capacity is NOT recommended.

The Fold-Away kit is designed for a static weight of up to 5000 lbs, but that figure can be momentarily exceeded each time you hit a bump or a pothole.

I would recommend taking your boat to a truck scale to verify the actual weight of the boat and trailer. If you find that you are under the 5000 lb figure, the Fulton Fold-Away kit would work very well for you.
