Solution for Trailer Wiring on 2007 Dodge Durango that Has Separate Circuit 7-Way Installed
Question:
My.04durango has.factory tow.package with 7 pin connector, but when I plug in a trailer, my brake lights on the trailer dont work. When I test the wires on the vehicle side, I have running lights, left blinker, right blinker,.12volt ,.ground, and brake.lights. in other words, brake lights are on their own wire, not tied to blinkers. All schematics.for 7 pin wiring I find.assume that brakes.and.blinker on the vehicle side are combined, but that is not the case here. So how do I wire.the 7 pin to make.trailer lights.work, using the facts I.described above. What am I missing?

Expert Reply:
Your tow vehicle has a 7-way wired with separate trailer wiring circuits which is not a standard way to wire up trailer wiring. Unless you have a specific trailer you plan to tow with separate wiring you would want to convert the trailer wiring on the tow vehicle to match the standard combined circuits you see on 99% of trailers.
The adapter you would need is the part # RM-732 which would wire to the vehicle's 7-way circuits. I attached a diagram of a 7-way for you to use as a guide for wiring up the pins of the 7-way.
