Which Weight Distribution is Best for a Jayco Jay Feather SLX

Question:

Hi I have a 2008 Chevy 2500 duramax and a 2014 Jayco Jay feather slx 19XUD. it has a dry hitch of 373 Lbs and unloaded weight is 3,275 Lbs. The trailer doesnt put that much squatinch on the truck but it has some serious sway going down the South Dakota Highways. I figure if I am going to get sway control I mind as well get it with a WD hitch. I was looking at the Fastway FA94-00-0800 thinking I could use it if I get a heavier camper in the future but is this what you would recommend? Thanks

The best way to choose a weight distribution system is to determine your total tongue weight. The total tongue weight includes the loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer plus the weight of any cargo loaded in the back of your truck behind the rear axle.

Based on the dry weight and GVWR of your trailer, I would estimate your trailer's tongue weight to be around 400 lbs to 600 lbs loaded. The total tongue weight could be higher depending on what cargo you load behind the rear axle of your truck. If you find that your total tongue weight will not exceed 800 lbs., then the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System, # FA94-00-0800, will work great for you.

This system however requires a 2 inch hitch ball # EQ91-00-6080 to be purchased separately.
