What Size and Grade Hardware is Required to Install Demco Flat Plate Trailer Coupler DM12653-97

Question:

I was looking at the 12653-97 Primed 3/4inch bolt on Coupler, I need to know how far out the dimension is from the Back of the Mounting Plate to the front of the Coupler. Can you tell me the Capacity rating difference between the 5/8inch bolts and the 3/4inch bolts, I guess the real question is the capacity is still 21,000lbs I am looking at Breakaway Rated Strength. I am the Retired Engineer that just talked to you on the phone about the 32 Degree A-Frame coupler and the on the ball from the Tech Engineer. This is a 10,000lb, Gross trailer and as I told you before, I like to have things Rated greater than needed, OVERKIL is SAFETY.

The Demco Flat Plate Trailer Coupler # DM12653-97 measures 9-1/2-inches from the back of its 6-1/2 x 6-1/2-inch mounting plate to the forward end of the coupler, as shown in the photo I prepared for you. Installation of this bolt-on coupler requires 3/4-inch diameter grade 5 hardware in order for it to meet its rated 21K capacity. It is not recommended to use any other size or grade of hardware. I confirmed this with my tech contact at Demco.
