Installation and Recommendation of Tekonsha Brake Controller on a 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71 4X4
Question:
I would like to purchase this product but have some questions. I have a 2015 Colorado Z71 4X4. I noticed on another vehicle it may need a fuse. If I got the tow package, would I need to install a fuse with either of these products? Also how long is the wire harness and what is included in the box? Which one is the easiest to setup? If I need a pigtail that is longer could you suggest one for my Truck? Once I wire this in and set it up is that all I need to do? Thanks in advance

Good news, I can help.
It looks like if you get the tow package on the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado the wiring for the brake controller is already run for you located behind the kick panel on the left inside of the driver's seat. See image I've attached for this location.
Our installer recommended trimming back the tape that was holding the wires so that it was long enough to work with the included 12-inch-long universal pigtail connector. See 2 minute 50 second mark of the video I've linked of the P3 being installed on a 2015 Colorado. He also uses a circuit tester to identify the correct circuits for the wires like PTW2993.
As far as brake controllers the Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is a great brake proportional brake controller. A proportional brake controller means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. This is the best-selling controller on the market because of how easy it is to setup and use, and how well it works. The P3 # 90195 is like the P2's big brother it has all the same great features, but it also comes with a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering, it will take a bit longer to setup due to all the display screen options. Either would be a great choice for your truck, it just depends on what display features will suit you.
This should complete your setup of the brake controller on the 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71 4X4 with the tow package.
