We have the Yakima Q 124. Your cam cover looks like ours, but how do we know if they are exactly the same?

They are exactly the same. You said you have Q Towers 124 ( # Y00124). That is what replacement Q-Cam cover # Y8810071 fits. The Q Towers are all the same though there have been changes over the years and this cover actually fits numerous models past and present.
