Can Atwood RV Water Heater - Gas and Electric Run Just Off of Electricity

Can you run this water heater on only electric or does it only run on LP with the electric part as an aid?

The electric part of water heater # AT96117 can run all the time with or without the propane pilot active. The electric part is meant to keep the water hot while you are traveling (because presumably the trailer or RV battery will be providing an electrical charge while the vehicle is running). Then once you reach your destination and can't run electric without the vehicle running or when connected to shore power you can turn off the electric part and use the propane only.
