How to Tell if Trailer Drum Brake Assemblies are On the Right Side
Question:
Yes I purchased new brakes for my trailer and I installed them the same as the old ones that where on it but still not having the greatest brakes. The electrical connections are good and getting good power to them Im wondering if guy before me had them on the wrong side how do I tell the magnets are at the bottom I do know that. This is 10k axles and I believe the brakes are 12-1/4 x 3-3/8. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

If you pull of the hubs on your trailer you should see the actuating arm holding the magnet below the spindle. If you imagine the arm as the end of an arrow it should be pointing towards the front of the trailer. If yours are on the wrong sides they would perform like you described.
