Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System Offering 3 Inches of Drop for Travel Trailer and 2016 Ram
Question:
I have a 2016 Ram 2500 with the top of the receiver sitting at 24. The top of the coupler on my travel trailer sits at 21. Im looking at the Blue Ox hitch and I dont see any way to get an actual 3inch of drop. I also would like to see if getting the shank in the 2.5inch version is possible. Thanks.

For a Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution system that will offer you 3 inches of drop, you will want to use a SwayPro system that comes with the longer weight distribution shank. For example, if you need a system that is rated for up to 1,500 pounds tongue weight and 15,000 pounds towing weight, the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution with Sway Control, 13 Inch Rise/7-1/2Inch Drop # BXW1506. This system is designed for tongue weights between 1,000 - 1,500 pounds and offers a maximum 7-1/2 inch drop.
For a SwayPro system that offers the same rise and drop but is designed for trailer tongue weights between 750 - 1,000 pounds, you will want # BXW1006.
Blue Ox does offer SwayPro systems that come with a shank designed to fit a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver, such as # BXW2000, but all of these systems are designed for use on trailers with tongue weights between 1,500 pounds - 2,000 pounds. Additionally, these weight distribution shanks have only a 2-1/2 inch drop.
The weight distribution shank that is designed to fit a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver and is most likely to give you a 3 inch drop with a Blue Ox SwayPro system is the Equal-I-zer Weight Dist. Shank # EQ90-02-4900. With an Equal-I-zer weight distribution head, this shank offers a maximum 6 inch drop. This shank is compatible with the size hole and hole spacing on the Blue Ox SwayPro system's head so they will work well together.
A weight distribution shank for a 2 inch hitch receiver can be used in a 2-1/2 inch hitch in conjunction with a hitch reducer, such as # BX88187 from Blue Ox.
If you'd like to let me know your trailer's loaded and ready to tow tongue weight, plus the weight of any cargo in the truck that is carried behind the rear axle, I'll be happy to make a more specific weight distribution system recommendation for you.
