In the online edition of the owner's manual for your 2012 Nissan Pathfinder, on page 9-21, the maximum towing capacity for the V6 is shown as 6000-lbs and for the V8 7000-lbs. Maximum tongue weight (TW) loads are 600- and 700-lbs respectively. The gross combined weight rating (GCWR) for the trailer and vehicle together is 11,135-lbs for the V6 and 12,569-lbs for the V8. You will want to ensure that your total weight for the vehicle, passengers, cargo and trailer does not exceed these limits for the vehicle version you have.

Your vehicle has an OEM transmission cooler in the radiator. When towing a car hauler that could easily weigh 5000-lbs a supplemental cooler that works along with the OEM cooler is definitely a good idea. Derale transmission cooler # D13503 works with both V6 and V8 engines and will help further reduce your transmission's operating temperature which will extend its life.

I have linked an installation video for this cooler as well as a couple of helpful articles on coolers that will interest you.
