Will Yakima Skybox 21 Rooftop Cargo Box Fit Factory Crossbars On 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

Question:

I have a Yakima skybox 21 to put on a 2015 Chevy Tahoe. 2 cross rails with 3 places to put the crossbars on the rails. The front cross bar slot and middle cross bar a lot are 24 inches apart. It seems like there is too much overhang with a 92 inch box. Yakima suggests 24-42 inches. My only option with my roof rack is 24, of i use the rear and front slot its 45 inches and doesnt fit. My roof rack is factory from Chevy. Im essentially looking for your input if its safe to load the skybox 21 with that much overhang. It would seem that will be quite bouncy unless the crossbar spread is wider.

According to the fit guide for Yakima the crossbar spread for your 2015 Tahoe factory roof rack is 27-1/2 inches. You want to measure the distance from center-to-center of the crossbars.

Since they state it can be used with a crossbar spread of 24 inches you would be fine as long as you distribute the weight of the cargo you are carrying in the # Y07337 roof box.
