Recommended Way To Provide Maintenance Charge To Battery On Towed 2013 Honda CR-V
Question:
I purchased Blue OX Patriot Portable Braking System part # BRK-2012 last summer from Etrailer. When I was towing my 2013 Honda CRV to Florida over the winter I had a couple of instances where the Braking System used enough current to kill the battery of the towed vehicle. Is there a way to bring 12v from the motor home to power the supplemental braking unit so that the towed vehicles battery is not discharged?

To keep a maintenance charge on the battery of your Honda I recommend using a wiring harness like part # BX88206 with your tow bar wiring that you can run a wire from the connector at the front of the CR-V to the battery.
If the connector at the back of the towing vehicle has a 12 volt circuit you could use that circuit to provide a maintenance charge. Or you can tap into the running light circuit in the tow bar wiring but to provide power to the battery the tow vehicle running lights would have to be on all the time. You would just attach the wire to the corresponding pin at the back of the connector that will be at the front of the Honda and the other end of that wire will go to the positive battery terminal.
