Lighting Requirements to Flat Tow a 1992 Jeep Wrangler Behind an RV Using Invisi-Brake System
Question:
Please clarify towed vehicle light wiring requirements for this brake system installed in a classic 1992 Jeep Wrangler Renegade YJ being towed behind a small 24ft class C Winnebago. I am confused about the potential conflicts with towing light wiring and seeking the simplest aligned solution. Also, are there any other specific parts that would be necessary for the Roadmaster brake system installation in this vehicle.

Expert Reply:
To install the Invisi-Brake system # RM-8700 in your 1992 Jeep Wrangler there is only one special item needed and that depends on the lighting system being used. If you choose to use a 4-diode lighting kit such as # RM-154 then you will also need to install brake light relay # RM-88400 to prevent the Jeep's turn signal from overriding the signal from the RV.
The simplest solution is to use a light kit that bypasses the Jeep wiring. If you use a lighting kit that bypasses the Jeep wiring such as bulb and socket kit # RM-155, or magnetic kit, # RM-2120 then you will not have to use the brake light relay. I have included links to videos showing example installations of the brake system and the bulb and socket kit for you.
