5-Way Adapter Recommendation for a 2008 Mazda CX-9 For Surge Brake Trailer

Question:

I have a boat with a new Shorelandr trailer that has surge brakes. I only have a 4-pole wire harness, and my mechanic says that for my 2008 Mazda CX-9 to disengage the surge brakes electronically, I need a flat 5-pole harness and a several-hundred-dollar part that costs about $300 to install. Is there a simple and cheap way to electronically bypass the surge brakes when I want to back up the boat I know there is a little metal piece to put in it to accomplish the same thing, but it barely fits and is often hard to get in? We are getting a different tow vehicle in a few months, and so I dont want to do any real alterations to the Mazda. Thank you and have a great day.

If you don't mind a little bit of wiring I have a much cheaper solution to activate your reverse lock out solenoid. You would just need the part # 47515 that will adapt the 4-way to a 5-way.

Basically you just plug this into your 4-way and then wire the 5th circuit up to the reverse light circuit and the reverse lock out solenoid will activate like it should. I attached an install video for this harness for you to get an idea how it would install on your vehicle.
