Recommended Bike Rack for Transporting 2 Electric Bikes
Question:
I have a question about platform racks for electric bikes. First which do you recommend? I have the Hollywood SE-2, Kuat NV and Thule T2 Pro2 or TH 9032 high on my research list. Also is the Hollywood SE-4 just an addition of a second rack to the SE-2 so that we could carry our 2 electric bikes closer to the vehicle and then maybe add 2 more conventional bikes too? can the SE4 be taken apart so that it is just a two bike carrier. Thanks for your help.

Don't worry, I can help get you what you need to transport your electric bikes and two additional bikes.
First thing to know is that all racks are not created equal; so while the S2 and SE4 Hollywood Racks bike racks look similar they cannot serve the same purpose for your electric bikes as they can for the average bike. This is due to the heavy weight of electric bikes. As you found we offer two racks that allow for 2 electric bikes to be transported with a 2 inch or Class II 1-1/4 hitch. The Hollywood Racks # HLY84FR (2 inch) and the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 (1-1/4 or 2 inch). The Hollywood Racks can carry a capacity of 80lbs per bike and the Thule has a capacity of 65lbs per bike. Due to the higher weight capacity, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR over the Thule EasyFold.
As for the other two bikes the best bet is to outfit your vehicle with a roof rack for those. If you could tell me your year, make, and model and what size hitch you have; I would be more than happy to help you get the right rack for your vehicle.
