Small Winch to Use for Lifting 4 lbs in Treehouse
Question:
Good morning, Ive been looking around for a really small winch to use on a treehouse project. Lifting will likely be under 4 pounds and will have a counter balance too. Ill use some thin aircraft cable. Does this winch ratchet in both directions? Does it require the user to hold down the release while winching? Trying to make it simple and easy for kids and wife. The Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch # DL14125 that you referenced only ratchets when pulling the cable in. To let the cable out you would push the pawl down and it will allow the handle to free-wheel in either direction. At this point you would hold the handle and rotate it so that the winch feeds the cable out. For something that only weighs 4 lbs this shouldn't be a problem.
I attached a review video for this winch to show you how it operates as well.
