Recommended Bike Carrier For two Electra Amsterdam Electric Bikes
Question:
I just received my Swagman XC2 bike carrier. My wife and I are in our 60s and each own an Electra Amsterdam bike. After assembly and instillation I took our bikes for a test run. I noticed a lot of up and down and side to side motion and am afraid that our bikes are to heavy for this carrier. Should I continue using it or start looking for another?

From my online research I found the Electra Amsterdam bikes weigh around 40-lbs or more depending on the model.
The Swagman XC2, part # S64650 has a capacity of 70-lbs or 35-lbs per bike. The weight of your bikes is over the capacity of the carrier and that is probably causing the excessive movement you said you have. In my honest opinion I recommend a bike rack that is more heavy-duty and can handle the extra weight of your bikes.
The bike rack I recommend is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE, part # HLY84FR. This sturdy bike rack has a capacity of 80-lbs per bike which is more than enough for your bikes. This bike rack has a tilting feature that makes it easier to load and unload. It also includes an anti-rattle device that eliminates excessive movement of the rack when installed in the hitch. A hitch lock is included as well as bike locks to secure the bikes to the rack and deter theft.
