Is a Stop Light Switch Needed on 2012 Ford F-150 with Roadmaster InvisiBrake

Question:

Ive installed the RM8700 in my 2012 F150. Ive hooked the F150 up to a Tow vehicle and all systems and features appear to be working as advertised!! I noticed on page 14 of the installation instructions under Install the monitor system a note saying that if the vehicle has an automatic shut down feature which my truck does an optional stop light switch kit must be installed as the brake light switch will stop working at some point during towing. I can not find the part number of the switch kit that it is referring to. Can you confirm that I do in fact need the kit and if so provide me with the part number?? Thanks,

I'm glad the installation of your InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 has gone successfully! For your 2012 Ford F-150 you will not need to install a stop light switch. I spoke with my technical contact at Roadmaster and he confirmed that the stop light switch is not needed on your vehicle.

He was able to tell me that the automatic shut down on your 2012 F-150 does not affect the brake light switch. Since the brake light is not affected by the automatic shut down, there is no need for the stop light switch to be installed.

My contact that I spoke with is the one who tests these systems at Roadmaster, so he is certain you will not need to install a stop light switch.
